The Magazine of your Reading List

Posted November 2nd, 2011 in News by Benoit

There’s two key things about paper magazine that I love:

  • You can actually finish it. We all feel satisfaction when completing a task. Done!
  • You can give it to someone else. The gift is a universal way of communicating for people around the world, especially when it comes to sharing information.

Unfortunately, we can’t enjoy these experiences with Today’s Social Mags and Web Reading Lists… until now.

Joliprint creates a beautiful daily magazine of the most relevant news from your reading list, and delivers it to you by email, web or mobile.

Start feeding your magazine now. Joliprint gives you a Read Later bookmark.

  • When you find something you want to read, but you don’t have time, click Joliprint.
  • Receive a Daily magazine of your Reading List by email and read your articles on the go.

A reading list pleasant to read

A news magazine that you can actually finish.

A PDF easy to share with your friends beyond iPad users.

    Hey,

I think it’s great idea! I’ve just started using this feature but I miss one option: it would be nice to preview and change (via web of course) items of mag. Delete, move up/down on the list. I am the Barnes’ & Noble’s nook user (it’s an ebook reader) and I think that cover is not necessary. If the mag would be more customizable I would use it every day!

This is brilliant and a big step from the mag by email. Have you given thought to a premium version with branding options for publishers.

For example, I want to compile some web articles into a handout for a course I’m teaching. It would be amazing to customize my settings so the front page could list my school’s logo etc.

Great idea! I’m using Joliprint for articles that I would like to keep on my hdd rather than using Joliprint as a read-it-later replacement. Some things are missing though (in my opinion). I do not understand yet how Joliprint chooses which pages get into the magazine. The other thing is: What if I have more than 20 articles on a day and I have chosen a daily mail? A notification like “xy out of 20 articles used” would be great. Thx

    Hi N3T,

The Reading List is coming in next week’s release. Including the ability to delete items and to request instant mag delivery based on a selection of items.

    Thanks for the idea of:
    - moving up/down an item
    - setting the cover page as an option.

    Best,
    Benoit

    Hi Tony,

Joliprint provides a premium plan for publishers who want a customized template and /or no Joliprint mention in the PDF.

Please send me an email (benoit[at]joliprint.com) for additional information about your project.

    Best,
    Benoit

    Hi RS,

    Thanks for the feedback.

Joliprint selects the 5, 10 or 20 last articles added to the reading list and merges the items in the magazine (last in, first out).
Do you suggest another selection rule?

    Best,
    Benoit

    Hi Benoit,

thanks for the reply. I would notice that RS wrote important thing. For example, I want to read everything what has been added to the ‘Mag’. So, I suggest ability to compile one PDF with all articles. Another way, is splitting PDFs (2 PDF with 20 articles each, and 3rd tiwth 5 articles – for 45 pages added).

    Hi Benoit:
I too would like to see an option to have joliprint compile ALL articles into one PDF. I typically have more than 20 articles that I want to read in a day and would not want to see any lost because there was a maximum # of articles allowed.

I think this is a great idea and would love to use it on a daily basis, but if there is a cap of 20 articles then I am forced not to use it.

Also, is there any way that joliprint can be used to make the magazine an epub formatted file instead of PDF? ereaders work better with epub files than PDFs. The file would be easier for me to read (due to a visual impairment) if it were in epub instead of PDF.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi Weyrleader,

It’s good to have your feedback. We first limited to twenty because of the email attachment size limit. But we’re working on a size optimization that could allow more than twenty articles.

And the ePub format is definitely a feature that will come out soon.

    Thanks,
    Benoit

Just send two e-mails, one attachment each ;)

  11. N3T says:

And you could add option of creating PDF/ePub without images :)
    # Sorry for double-comment.

    Thanks for adding ePub! <3
